The United Arab Emirates probably isn't the first location that springs to mind when you are thinking of taking a holiday, but you would be surprised at just how many people head there each year. One of the most travelled to places of all has to be the city of Dubai. Located on the northern coast of the Emirates, it is perfectly placed to provide tourists with a wealth of sights to see and things to do. It is certainly a haven for anyone who likes to shop. This is partly because Dubai offers two distinct types of shopping experience for the eager traveller to enjoy. Firstly there are the usual clusters of shops which are reminiscent of those you would find at home. The modern shopping centres are out in force, and many people travel quite some distance to see them " even from other countries. The second and perhaps more interesting shopping experience you can indulge in is to visit the souk districts. A souk is basically a market, and you can enjoy a spot of bartering here if you are up to the challenge! You will find all kinds of goods and items to buy here, so be sure to prepare yourself for a great day out. As you might have guessed, Dubai is famous for its shopping. Some people visit the city on holiday with the primary intention of shopping above all else, but it is good to know that the city can offer more than this too. For example, the Dubai museum is a must see if you want to know more about the city itself. This museum benefits from being in the Al Fahidi fort, which gives the museum quite a presence and air of importance " even before you have walked through the doors. One of the best ways to see the city is to take a tour of some kind. You will find lots of them on offer, and they take place both during the day and at night. If you like the idea of seeing Dubai at night, there is no better way to do it than by boat. You can climb aboard an Arabic Dhow " a very distinctive looking boat " and indulge in a wonderful meal while you watch the skyline of Dubai glide past you. This is a wonderful way to see the city from a different point of view, as well as being very relaxing. Flights to Dubai are very quick and easy to book, and before you know it you will be touching down in this stunning city.
