The French Alps offer spectacular ski resorts, most of which are linked together forming huge ski circuits with an endless variety of ski slopes that are ideal for skiers of all levels. Orcieres, a high altitude resort in the Champsaur valley, goes up to 2725m and comprises more than 100 km of pistes at varying exposures, providing exciting choices of runs. Offering more than 265 km of breathtaking pistes with skiing up to 2,500 meters this provides an exhilarating experience for the more experienced skier. 21 km tracks and several different circuits in Val d’Isere provide plenty of opportunities for cross country skiing. The Espace Killy area offers more than 300 km of marked piste run and unrestricted off piste skiing, making it the perfect choice for skiers of all abilities. This excellent ski resort is all set to hold the 2009 World Skiing Championships along with its neighboring resort, Tignes. The resort has an astounding 96 ski lifts that cover ten miles. The ski lifts travel vertically more often than horizontally and are capable of transporting 149, 425 skiers per hour. With state-of-the-art skiing facilities and snow coverage that is among the best in Europe, Val d’Isere is one ski resort in the French alps that you do not want to miss.
