To this day I remember what it meant to for family to have health insurance. As a kid we always took an annual vacation but this time we never made it.

Every year we would take a family vacation. The night before the trip we were packing and looking forward for my dad to get home from work. My dad worked long hard hours at the local industrial plant just outside of town. He worked there for as long as I could remember. Mom was a part time cashier and saved her money for our vacation.

I am an advocate of personal health insurance for all Americans, but I'm also a realist, a taxpayer and concerned American, middle-aged, who just happen to live in Texas. We have a surprising number of uninsured residents, mainly because of illegal immigration, which is very difficult to resolve them. Texas has about 28% of the population aged 0-64 who are uninsured and insured 21% under the age of 17 years. This problem is in large scale, and if we are with our EuropeanColleagues, it seems, their social health plans are not so good for the economy. What is the answer, and who will pay for it? Congress says America can not pay, and its so simple, but can, visit the idea for a few moments!

Over the Memorial Day weekend in 1987 I moved to Florida in with my boyfriend and our son. Right away I started looking for an office job. Only three weeks after moving here, I got a job with a well-known company that wasn't too far from my new apartment. As with any new job, I had to choose health insurance coverage, if I wanted it. There were two plans to choose from. One plan was similar to the insurance coverage at my previous job up north where I could use my current doctor and go to any hospital. The other plan was new to me; it was an HMO.

I am a single 35 year old mom and have a 4 year old son with MS and to this day we have never had any problems with the insurance company except for one. You hear so many stories of insurance companies dropping their customers but you wont get no complaints from me. I hope I am not the exception.

While we were driving one night on vacation John (my son) and I were headed back to the hotel. He began experiencing nauseous like symptoms. We got back to the hotel got him medicated and he went fast to sleep. It was after 9pm so I waited to make arrangements to see a local specialist in the morning.

Gov. Charlie Crist took a stab last week at saying where he stood as a U.S. Senate candidate on one of Washington's most contentious issues: whether to involve the federal government further in providing health care.
