Traveling with carry-on luggage for 19 days. Can it be done? Why would you do it? The Wall Street Journal recently reported that this summer is projected to be the worst ever for congestion and delays. No checked luggage = one less line at the departure airport. It’s another way to avoid all the extra fees for checked bags, which means more money to spend on your vacation. Copyright (c) 2008 Jennifer Selby Long
After the crack-up happened on January, 17 with the safest in the world plane Boeing 777 owned by the “British Airways” company, many people once again started taking serious thoughts. Of course, all airlines ever had crashes, and this doesn’t mean that they are not safe. However, there are companies, which have almost no such incidents. Over its 87-year history Australian airline “Qantas” had several serious crack-ups only in the first days of its existence. However, ‘Qantas’ still remains the safest company, if by “safety” we mean the mileage flew by the air carrier without fatalities. Hundreds more companies match this definition, among them are - EasyJet, Aer Lingus and Virgin Atlantic.
By now you know where you’re going, when you’re off and where you’re going to be heading to and maybe even booked your accommodation. But you will still need access to more money while you’re away - there are souvenirs, entrance fees, local transport, meals, tips, coffee’s, tea and scones, etc., etc. that you will need to pay for as you travel to all these incredible places you’re planning to visit.
Packing is an important part of your pre-trip planning. Leaving something behind may not be important if you’re heading off to a major destination where you can probably buy what you need. But travel well off the beaten-track (where the best adventures are usually found) and you could be in trouble. Make sure you can easily identify you luggage. You can get something that has a unique colour or tie a coloured ribbon around the handle - anything that will make your stuff stand out from the crown. It will make it far easier to find in insode a mound of like coloured black backpacks or cases.
Next time you fly, take note of the other passengers in the boarding area. How many do you think weigh 170 lbs? Now I am in pretty good shape. I am about 6 feet tall and weigh 190 pounds. If you run the BMI (Body Mass Indicator) calculator, you will see the government thinks I am overweight, not obese but overweight. Good grief, they think I need to lose another 30 plus pounds. So why am I bringing my weight in an airliner story?
So, you and everyone else in the world want to get a low priced ticket to… Oh, I don’t know… you choose the destination. OK, so now that we all have the perfect location in mind, let’s start with the basics. Yeah, yeah, website searches followed up by phone calls to the individual airlines – this is a solid way to proceed – but there is a step that most people miss that can save you even more.
