The Festival of Speed, held at Goodwood in West Sussex, is one of the
biggest motoring events in the world. Well over 150,000 people attend
each year for the three day event and the festival has been described
as ?The Greatest Show on Earth’.

The Festival of Speed celebrates the culture and history of motor
sport and cars. There are many events throughout the weekend including
motorbike racing, off-road driving and the chance to see Formula 1
cars, Rally cars and many other racing cars.

It is also the only festival in the world where you can see a range
of racing cars from Steam cars to Formula 1 all in one place.

Hamble le Rice is a small village situated just outside Southampton on
the south coast of England. It is famed the world over for its
association with yachting. There are three marina’s and three yacht
clubs which provide plenty of moorings and berths for visiting and more
permanent sailors. The River Hamble is at the heart of the sheltered
waters of the Solent, protected from the open sea by the Isle of Wight.

The River Hamble is at the heart of the sheltered
waters of the Solent, protected from the open sea by the Isle of Wight.
It benefits from a two hour stand at high water, is an ideal base for
cruising, whether one’s horizons are limited to the Solent and Isle of
Wight, or extend further afield on the South Coast, the Channel Islands
or France.

Floods and delays on the roads, and at airports, have caused misery and chaos for thousands of holiday makers getting away for the first week of the school summer holidays.

Under most , albeit a little late and do spare a thought for those less fortunate back home as you are soaking up that Mediterranean sun.

A threatened BA pilots strike is still on the cards for this Easter
with 86% of the carrier’s pilots voting in favour for some form of
industrial action. One can only hope that common sense will prevail but
it is now a regular feature in our every day lives that staff with a
grievance will target the busy holiday periods to put pressure on their
employers. And it is not just the airlines who are at risk. Airports
authorities are also vulnerable to strikes and stoppages.

Ski resorts have opened early across Europe and those going to North
america will find resorts in Canada and New England doing the same.

Andorra in the Pyrenees is reporting the best start to a season for
40 years with record snowfall. Despite the pound sliding against both
the Euro and the dollar, holiday prices appear to be lower than last
year in many European countries, as much as 20% cheaper according to
the latest survey from Co-operative Travel and in North America, the
price of a ski package has also fallen sharply, by 11% in Whistler and
Lake Tahoe.
